R L Carriers Complaint - Damaged Shipment! Shipper Beware!

Review by SallyJB on 2009-08-20
Recently I shipped two antique chairs from my parents home in PA to my home in CA. We shopped around a chose R+L Carriers because they were nationally recognized and came in with the best bid.

They instructed us to bubble wrap the items which we did thoroughly.

When our chairs arrived in CA, one was literally crushed to pieces and the other had scratches and a major gouge in the back.

We stupidly did not purchase additional insurance as it never occurred to us that the shippers would so blatantly treat our furniture with such disregard. The damage is so extensive that it appears that they either put the pieces under other very heavy objects or tossed them violently.

Shipper beware! Take all precautions before you ship!

Is there any type of compensation outlined in the contract for the damages?

A spa company used this carrier to deliver a cover to me. They missed two delivery dates, kept me on hold and despite repeated promises, they arrived over 3 hours late to their "first" delivery in the morning. No apologies, no customer service skills whatsoever. The cover contained a dent despite all the warning on the box. A bad experience all round.
