Sears-Craftsman lawnmower Complaint - Bad Warranty Service
MADISONVILLE, KENTUCKY -- We purchased a craftsman push mower in April 2009. The blade was hitting the frame when we mowed with it. We took it back to the local Sears in Madisonville KY for repair. The service tech ground the frame in the spots where the blade was hitting and told us it was fixed. He didn't even try to paint over the spots to keep the frame from rusting. We brought the mower home and it still continued to hit the frame when we used it. I called the local Sears again about having it fixed. The owner/operator of the local store first told us to bring it in and they would replace it. After going into the store, the person behind the counter said that the owner had changed her mind and that they were going to try and repair it instead. We left the mower at the store to be repaired. I immediately went home and started contacting people at Sears to find out what we needed to do to make sure that it was fixed right. I talked to a senior service tech who told me that if they ground the inside of the frame, that it would weaken the frame and it would eventually break. He said the only way to fix the mower was to install a new deck or replace the mower. The local owner refused to do this. I have contacted serveral departments at Sears including the national customer relations, customer solution center, and even the blue ribbon escalation department. We still haven't had any luck getting the problem corrected. The local Sears store is just telling us to come pick up our mower, because they consider it repaired. The only thing they did was put another blade on it. They didn't even attempt to repair the frame. I would like to know if anyone else has purchased a mower this season from Sears and are they having any problems with the blade hitting the deck.
