Care Credit - GE Money Bank Complaint - Unethical and devious practices

Review by NowIsee on 2009-08-25
ORLANDO FLORIDA, FLORIDA -- In 2007 I had Lasik performed. The doctors office offered financing. I paid the bulk of the fee on my flex card from my work insurance and financed 1340.00

Once I received my first statement I noted the due date and scheduled the payment online with my bank. To my recollection the minimum payment was 35.00. I paid 50.00 for 2 years and got the amount due down to 140.00 in August of 2009. It turns out that if I paid 55.00 it would have been over with in the promotional purchase period. The amount I overpaid for 2 years should be calculated and the interest reduced by that much.

I had no reason to review my statement every month as it was getting paid at a faster rate than required.

August 18th the "promotional purchase" agreement that Care Credit blamed on my service provider is actually their policy. A policy they make it a point to obscure so that just as your down to those last payments they can hook you again for another year.

It is unethical. At the very least when your due date for a promotion comes near you should get a reminder that if paid you will not be charged 23% interest! But then you lose a lot of opportunity to extort your unsuspecting honest customers.

Customer service offers nothing and is extremely rude. I was told if I did not have a reasonable question they would disconnect the call after waiting forever.

I have paid off another loan to GE Money ank for 3800.00 and no consideration of my past performance was granted.

I think what they did was unscrupulous but you did sign the contract and didn't review your monthly statements. The fault really lies with you. Sorry.

I agree with MS, except that I don't think it was unscrupulous. In two years you never read your agreement which told you when interest would kick in.

I agree with Ken. Why should they remind you? That's your job!
