Draft Foods Complaint - How Dare They - Kraft Mac and Cheese

Review by base005 on 2009-08-26
How Dare Kraft Foods have the nerve to take harmful ingreidents out of Mac and Cheese in foreign countries, but have the nerve to leave us in America eating Kraft Mac and Chesses with all the harmful ingreidients left in what they sell to us. Shame, shame on them.

Yummy. I suggest you make your own. Look up a recipe on the Food Network site. You'll be surprised at how easy it is and you can use only the best ingredients.

Ingredients: ENRICHED MACARONI PRODUCT (WHEAT FLOUR, NIACIN, FERROUS SULFATE [IRON], THIAMIN MONONITRATE [VITAMIN B1], RIBOFLAVIN [VITAMIN B2], FOLIC ACID); CHEESE SAUCE MIX (WHEY, MILKFAT, MILK PROTEIN CONCENTRATE, SALT, SODIUM TRIPOLYPHOSPHATE, CONTAINS LESS THAN 2% OF CITRIC ACID, LACTIC ACID, SODIUM PHOSPHATE, CALCIUM PHOSPHATE, MILK, YELLOW 5, YELLOW 6, ENZYMES, CHEESE CULTURE). CONTAINS WHEAT, MILK.

(I'm not yelling. This was c&p'd from the Kraft site.)

Hey Know, you must of been reading my mind! I was just going to post about making your own. There are wonderful recipes out there. I make my own, and like you said, only use the best ingredients.

If Kraft Mac & Cheese had anything harmful in it, I'd have been dead years ago. The list of ingredients that KIA so graciously provided, seems pretty benign.

I rate this one UR (uneducated rant)

Skye/MM--There are so many recipes, it is mind boggling. I don't buy anthing with more than a few ingredients and especially those I have no idea what the heck they are.
Posted by Skye on 2009-08-26:
Know, there is a site that has recipes with 5 ingredients or less, lol. I use it every now and then, when pressed for time, (who isn't).

Skye, I've used a site like that for my crockpot when I'm pressed for time. Five ingredients or less is awesome! The recipes are usually good too.

I usually go to myrecipes.com

Kraft mac and cheese is the best...when prepared correctly

What state do you live in OP?
Posted by Anonymous on 2009-08-26:
I like the Kraft Mac & Cheese.

Kraft Mac & Cheese is the shiznit. It's cheap and easy to make. If I'm not making my own, that's the only kind I get... no generic.
Posted by Slimjim on 2009-08-26:
I don't see cyanide or nuclear by-products listed. What are these "harmful" ingredients we should be concerned about? I bet it's that Yellow 5.
Posted by MSCANTBEWRONG on 2009-08-26:
What harmful ingredients?
Posted by Anonymous on 2009-08-26:
Well, slim, to me it's just a matter of taste and too many ingredients that I know nothing about. I prefer homemade to manufactured any day. I realize that many do not share my opinion, though, and that's fine by me.

BTW, yellow #5 was removed for the Kraft Mac & Cheese sold in Europe and Australia when people voiced their concern, but they still add it in the US. This can cause hyperactivity and asthma in children. Children are probably the ones who eat the most of this. That is probably what the OP is talking about.

Draft makes Chesses? Where have I been?

Kraft mac & cheese is a staple in our house. It's one of the few things my nephew will eat. I bow down and worship Kraft for that
Posted by PepperElf on 2009-08-26:
o course there IS another option
buy your own macaroni and add cheese.
Posted by trp2hevn on 2009-08-26:
LOL @ littleyaya.
I love the Easy Mac. Pre-measured in its own little bowl, add water, microwave for 3 1/2 minutes, add cheese powder. Done!

I always add some extra cheese. Sometimes I add tuna fish and peas
