WYNNEWOOD, PENNSYLVANIA -- As a consumer from your state, I felt it was my responsibility to bring to your attention the following incident.
I attempted to have Verizon DSL Service. After a almost 2 months (60 days) of poor customer service and the inability to connect, I cancelled the service. I signed up with earthlink. Earthlink worked for 2-3 days, then stopped. I was notified that Verizon had attached themselves to our line and would not release. 10 Days later, hours of phone calls to Verizon by both Me & Earthlink (as well as hours on the phone with Earthlink, Verizon DSL is still attached to my phone line. I recognize the monopoly of Verizon for local phone service and the actual lines. (I would choose another company given the choice) However, they are holding customers hostage. Additionally, I run a business that is internet driven. With out DSL is similiar to not having a refridgerator. Essentially, it has been more than a month dealing with this issue. As of today, Verizon is still on my line
As a resolution, I would like the following:
It should be illegal to attach a service to one's line. Verizon should be fined. There should be oversight on these consumer issues. Additionally, their monopoly should be stifled. There was a reason AT&T was broken up. This local monopoly breeds corruption.
