SuperShuttle Complaint - Dangerous Drive - Ride from airport to hotel

Ride from airport to hotel - Complaint
Review by ladygrey on 2009-08-28
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA -- We used Supershuttle to get from LAX to our hotel in Anaheim, CA. Our driver was texting and using his GPS while in stop and go traffic on the freeway. We almost rear ended other cars twice. When I called their customer service number to let them know what was going on during our ride, I was told that "texting while driving is not illegal" by the lady who answered the phone. Do not use their service if you value your life.

Is it illegal? It is in Chicago. (Illinois)

I don't want anyone texting and driving while I'm in the vehicle. Undistracted drivers are bad enough.

09/24/08 - Gov. Schwarzenegger signed legislation that bans text messaging while driving. Went into effect 01/01/09.

Mrs. V is right. Texting while driving is illegal in California. They forgot to tack on the texting portion onto the original law which mandated that hands free devices had to be used if you are using a cell phone while driving. Our tax dollars at work. >:-X

Texting while driving is STUPID.
Posted by JohnInSoCal on 2009-08-28:
Well Jkt, I couldnt agree with you more... and there are a LOT of stupid people in California!
Posted by madconsumer on 2009-08-28:
oh my!! i cannot think the lady told you that.

a simple search on youtube will give all the evidence needed to show that texting while driving is dangerous. the best one was a bus driver who was texting and caused a crash.

for once it's not just Kalifornia, it's all over.
Posted by madconsumer on 2009-08-28:

My 3rd guess was intercourse at old fart's house.

On You Tube, there's a PSA about the dangers of texting and driving. A teen girl is texting her friend, and crashes head on with another car and it starts a chain reaction of crashes. Everyone dies except for that teen and a toddler in another car. It's pretty gruesome, they show an infant laying dead in the car seat.
Posted by madconsumer on 2009-08-28:
yaya a local news site made that 'clip of the day'. other than being in the uk, it can be anyone at any time. it is not only the texter that suffers.
Posted by littleyaya on 2009-08-28:
I watched the whole thing and let me tell you, I will NEVER text while driving. I only text at red lights, but I won't be doing that anymore
Posted by madconsumer on 2009-08-28:
sure is a realistic video. if i did not know it was staged, i would think it was real. very well done.
Posted by Wally86 on 2009-08-28:
I have a blue tooth headset, so I never answer my phone or text while driving.
Posted by madconsumer on 2009-08-28:
i posted the video.

Got a parrot in my car, goes thru the radio speakers. Hands free, just answer and talk.
Posted by Soaring Consumer on 2009-08-28:
You should file a police report. That driver should be charged with reckless driving and public endangerment.

faxx, it's illegal to text in Chicago? I knew hands free sets were required but I didn't know that they had added texting too. Not that it isn't a bad idea :).
Posted by madconsumer on 2009-08-28:
unless there was a crash, a police report wont do diddly.
Posted by JohnInSoCal on 2009-08-28:
Soaring, C'mon now, think about it. The police wont take a report. At this point it is the drivers word against the passengers.
Posted by Soaring Consumer on 2009-08-28:
I said the driver should be charged not will be charged. They would still accept the report and investigate accordingly. The more reports they get about this type of incident the more likely they will act on this.
Posted by JohnInSoCal on 2009-08-29:
A counter report may be taken by the California Highway Patrol (not the police) and they will stick in a drawer. If the OP thought their life was in danger the time to contact the CHP is while they are in the vehicle by calling 911 on their cell phone or reported to officials when they arrived at their destination.

BA, John.

No no no it's not CHP
It's CHiPs!

LMAO! BA = Best Answer. Oh wait..not if we are playing by your rules, right C2O?

Posted by JohnInSoCal on 2009-08-29:
I was thinking the same thing Ms. M. I am choosing not to play by C2O's rules on that particular response.
Posted by C2O on 2009-08-29:
I started to open with.... eleven solid inches.... lol
That kind of threw me off track on what was in the palm of your hand though.

I wanted to play by your rules MM, I just had a minor misunderstanding. :)

LOL John! God Bless 'Ol Waylon!
Posted by PepperElf on 2009-08-29:
clicky. oo i like that one.
Posted by madconsumer on 2009-08-29:
if the poster files a poice report, and they investigate, and decide nothing happened, they will charge the poster with filing a false report.
Posted by JohnInSoCal on 2009-08-29:
LOL Pepper. I guess at one time it could have been because of the picture.
Posted by JohnInSoCal on 2009-08-29:
Law enforcement doesn't have time to chase texters based on report filed at the counter. They will not spend the money or man hours to pull cell phone records, take additional statements, blah blah. They will stick the report in a drawer and nothing will happen.
Posted by Sarah89 on 2011-07-27:
We must have had the same driver. Same thing happened to me.
