Bank of America Complaint - Refusal to honor Debit Card
I have twice been very embarrasssed and placed at risk by B of A's rejection of debit charges or withdrawals within my limit and with substantial cash balances available. In each case I was traveling. The bank said my use was "excessive and unusual". Neither was true. I did not even approach my daily limit, so the charges were certainly not excessive. Norwere they unusual in amount or purpose. Prior to these experiences, I had traveled worldwide with ready access to my funds.
The bank disingenuously told me this was for "my' protection. I quickly realized that it was really for the bank's protection, lest they be responsible to me for fraudulent use. So, they instead shift the risk to me that I will be embarrasssed and/or without funds rather than accept a risk themselves.
Moreover, their determinations are made by computer in an arbitrary and capricious manner, placing me at their mercy. I have no objective standard to anticipate a rejection. Even if I did, their offices have limited hours, so I could be (and was) in Times Square at midnite without cash when I reasonablyexpected access to my own funds.
They offer no reasonable recourse. I would appreciate any suggestions.
