CompUSA - Jantzen Beach, OR Complaint - This isn't the hard drive you're looking for... - 120 GB Hard Drive Offer Bait & Switch

120 GB Hard Drive Offer Bait & Switch - Complaint
Review by Anonymous on 2004-07-01
JANTZEN BEACH, OREGON -- Compu USA, is known for it's great deals in weekend ads. One time I saw a 120GB hard drive for a price I couldn't resist. I went into the store that day. Looked at the hard drives and not only did they NOT have the hard drive, but they didn't even have a section designated for it.

I went to a sales rep and they stated that I can get an 80GB and 40GB hard drive = 120GB. I told them that isn't the deal in the ad. She resisted and replied that it was.
So I went and got the ad and showed it to her. She quickly answered with, "We don't have any of those." I asked, then why is COMPUSA sending out this region based ad with products that they don't carry?

She then told me to go to customer service to "try another store's stock" The man there called 2 different stores, never got in tough with one and the other took 15 minutes to tell him that they didn't have any.

So what was the end result? The customer service guy said I could buy a 80GB & 40GB = 120GB Hard drive. Hmm...I wondered who taught these people this pathetic jedi mind trick, turned away and bought the hard drive from newegg.com.

Hmm. I am very surprised that a computer company that loves money would use bait and switch! Wow! Thank you for showing me the truth. Not!
