Bank of America Complaint - Bank of America LOST a $5000 check that i gave them to collect
HIGHLAND PARK, CALIFORNIA -- On July 29th 2009 I went into Bank of America in Highland Park, Ca. with a check that was sent to me by a company called Pipeline Promotions for $5000. I had won a contest that IFC put on in NYC for "America's Hottest Rocker Mom" which was aired on IFC's show ZRock.
I took the check to a teller, Ada, who started telling me that she had never heard of IFC, and that she hadn't heard of that contest, treating me poorly.
She took the check wrote out a receipt told me that it would take 15 days for me to get my money...well its 6 weeks later and NOTHING...I went in 17 business days after I had deposited check and the same teller told me "oh no it actually takes 6 weeks to collect a check" gave me a phone # to a collection agency and a reference # told me to wait 2 more weeks. Well 2 weeks passed and I have called the collection agency 3 times, 2 out of the 3 times, they were helpful but all they could do was notify the main branch and told me that someone would call me the next day.
No one has called, they are saying they sent the check out to the other bank, Capitol One..Capitol One is saying they never received it. So now what? Bank of America is just ignoring me. When I went in I asked to talk to a manager, they kept saying that wasn't necessary, wouldn't let me see one, just had me talk to the same teller that sent my check out.
I did talk to a woman at a desk, Ivette, that only shrugged her shoulders and kept saying "I don't know" "you'll have to talk to the teller" shrugged again when I told her, I was going to leave B of A after all this and going to do my banking elsewhere because I don't feel I can trust them anymore.
I have been banking with B of A for 10 years had I known that they would lose my check and ignore me, well...who would think their bank of 10 years would do that??
I'm struggling right now, single mother of a 3.5 year old son, I will go in again and try. I'm trying to get Pipeline to cancel the check and recut one which is also a difficult task.
I will be closing my bank account there I am truly outraged at the incompetence of the people who represent Bank of America and how poorly they treat a customer who has been with them for so long. This is grossly unprofessional.
