Chase Manhattan Bank Complaint - Deposit in to the ATM - Atm

Complaint
Review by Sconiers on 2009-09-03
MISHAWAKA,IND -- On Sept 2,2009 I deposited 200.00 into the atm. I get my receipt and go about my way. I get home and check to see if the deposit is pending there is nothing on the screen in my checking for the deposit I just made. The next morning I call the bank and ask them what the problem is why it was in my account. They said that the people that manage the atm come between 10 and 2. They werent quite sure what happened to my deposit. So I make a claim with the bank and they say it has been only one day. So they gave me a temporary credit for the money I deposited. They need to pull their heads out of their asses and find my money. So they are almost saying just because I have a receipt for the deposit doesn't mean they are responsible for the error. They got a few days to find my money or everyone will know even Contact 16.

What time did you check online? Was the deposit reflected in your running balance?

Since I am adding this comment at 4:30 AM Eastern time on 9/3, you would have had to have called them in the early morning hours of 9/3.

From my experience with my bank (not Chase) any pending credit and debit transactions will not show up in the online listing after a certain time (usually around midnight) when they are being processed by the banks accounting software. They will be reflected in my running balance, though not my available balance. The transactions will appear again after the bank has updated their account records to hard post the previous day's transactions.

And, if the ATM deposit was made after a certain time, it may only show up as pending on today's (9/3) listing after the update since it wasn't processed during the previous day's business hours.

If you wanted to get more immediate access you should have used a teller and not the ATM.

So, I take it you called an 800 number because the branch isn't open yet... (I'm making this post at 6:44 a.m.).
Be patient.
What time did you make the deposit? If you made it after the ATM cutover, it won't show up into your account until tonight since, for the ATM it was the next business day (Sept 3).
If you made it before cutover, it should be in your account now.

What error? You just made the deposit yesterday. You need to be patient and wait for it to go through processing. It may be cash, but the action itself still needs to go through processing.

atm deposits can take between 24 and 48 hours to post. it is on your receipt.

An ATM receipt is just about worthless. All it indicates is that a transaction occurred. The OP does not state if the funds were in the form of checks or cash. If cash it's just too easy for whomever removes deposits to pocket the envelope. The only relatively safe ATM deposit is a check.

ATM deposits take a longer time to post even if it is cash. ATM's are only balanced and checked once a day. Geez, give the bank a break. Your deposit must be verified and then credited to your account. It must also be proven you even deposited the amount you said you did.. Just because you said you deposited $200 doesn't necessarily mean you did. Some people like to cheat, you know. If you were in such a dam- big hurry to have it credited, go to the bank and deposit with a teller. Even then the transaction will not post until the next day unless it is cash.

Why the hurry to have the deposit credited? Is there a transaction that was already made that needs to be covered by this deposit? If you needed the credit to show up right away you should have gone into the bank to do it.
