Thane Co Complaint - Beware H2O Steam Mop
Purchased H2O Steam Mop in March 2008 and also received a "free" hand held steamer. The H2O mop stopped working 1 month after the warranty was expired (April 2009). I know it was an electrical issue because it would work if I jiggled the cord and held it in a certain position.
It does not take a PH. D. in Electrical Engineering to know you don't fool with electrical problems with an appliance that uses water. I threw the appliance out and all literature. Today in the mail (4 months after I threw it out), I receive a corrective action letter and a replacement part in which the Thane Company acknowledges the problem is a defect. I called the company and explained that I had thrown it away because it was out of warranty and obviously dangerous to use. Their response?
I SHOULD HAVE KEPT THE MOP! and NOT THROWN IT AWAY...then they could have helped me. I asked the woman how many hazardous, defective appliances did she store in her closet? The response was none. The Thane Company will do nothing. (The "free" hand-held steamer broke after 6 months. I did not complain, it was free)
DO NOT BUY THE H2O MOP...it is defective and dangerous. Check out the Eureka Floor Steamer...it works better anyway.
