Winn-Dixie Stores Complaint - Too bad, so sad - General

General - Complaint
Review by jim_bob on 2009-09-04
WEEKIE WACHEE, FLORIDA -- WD is the store nearest me and would be my preferred shopping location, but...Lately the store gets sloppier, the quality of the fresh foods is becoming poorer, meat especially. The butchering is pathetic, and of course prices are sky high. They are more expensive in many instances than Publix, which is a far better store. Well if WD wants to act like a convenience store so be it. I'll shop at Publix unless I need a banana or an apple.
Too bad, so sad.....

It's unfortunate that Winn Dixie has become a second hand shopping mart...they've closed most of the ones in our area.

Jim bob, I was told a long time ago that all produce purchased by WD was first shipped to Jacksonville, FL which was the location of their main warehouses. From there shipped to the local stores. Quite a few days in between.

Any large chain store has a central location for incoming produce. Some just seem to ship it out sooner. The meat, well with WD I always thought that was shipped in frozen and the local guys had nothing to do with it unless a speciality cut was requested and they managed locally to handle those requests.

You never know. I've always enjoyed convenience along with a good product. On second thought, convenience is nice but if the product stinks I'll go elsewhere. WD will clean up their act or close the local stores if there is no business.

After reading the real life confessions of a past member here, who is a WD employee, NEVER buy orange juice at WD.

This is ridiculous. I've worked for winn dixie for 10 years, have visited many of our stores and have never seen anything that I havent seen at Publix or any other big market chain. There's a bad image on wd because of the problems they had in the past and you people get all hooty snooty and try to make em look like a dump when they are really nice places. Publix doesnt report to investors like winn dixie does because its privatly owned so they can afford to spend ridiculous amounts of money on labor to keep up better stores but guess what..its gonna catch up to them. or it'll catch up to you cause you'll be paying 6 dollars for a loaf of bread but you won't think twice because its such a pleasure to shop there
