Apple Computer Inc Complaint - Apple Service: Where Did it Go?
I purchased a Mac about one year ago and was very pleased with both the computer and the service--until this month when the service started heading south. First, there was the abhorrent "chat support" for MobileMe. When the service didn't work, I tried chatting multiple times, and had several "tech support" emails from them The upshot: they don't know what's wrong and they would forward my complaint to their engineers. End of story. No resolution. Yet they expect me to continue to pay for the service--and will not provide a refund for service not rendered.
Second, I purchased a VGA adapter along with my computer. At that time the store sold me AppleCare, stating that it would cover all hardware purchased. Yet now they are refusing to honor that commitment, denying they have any responsibility for the failed VGA adapter. In fact, when I went to the store a person who identified himself as a manager tried selling me a new one--despite the fact that the same store had stated it was covered under Apple Care. Only after a lengthy argument with a helpful AppleCare manager did I get satisfaction. While I certainly appreciate his intervention, I don't think it should take 45 minutes on the phone to get help.
In short, although the Mac remains solid, for a long term commitment to a laptop company, I'm going back to a Windows
