United Health care Complaint - Provided false in-network provider
I have United healthcare medical insurance. In June of 2009 I needed an MRI for my shoulder so I went online and performed a search through my insurance provider for the closest In-Network MRI facility. Around the corner from my house it listed Alliance health care services at 3033 West Orange Ave in Anaheim. I drove over to this address in Anaheim and found that it was the West Anaheim Medical Center which is a Hospital. I inquired inside at the MRI center and the MRI receptionist made a quick phone call to my PPO insurance and scheduled an appointment for the MRI. Now I get a bill stating the facility was Out-Of-Network with a bill due of $869.99. My insurance company says I went out of network but I told them I got the location information from their website. Basically tough luck says the Insurance Company and the Hospital billing company. I appealed the bill and no resolution. I have made several telephone calls and can't get anywhere. I find out today when I called the number for Alliance that was provided by my online search that Alliance use to provide MRI's at that hospital pre 2006. Alliance does not provide MRI's now. I was mis-led by the online information from United healthcare, and the hospital that provided the MRI obviously did not get an in network approval on the telephone when they made that phone call at my appointment time. I'm screwed and no one will take responsibility for this bill that I shouldn't have to pay. I don't have the money and currently am disabled paying for Cobra to continue medical benefits.
