Vonage Complaint - Vonage Unfriendly Practices
We have used Vonage for about a year now, and have had little to no problems with it. A few months ago I discovered Vonage Talk and loved it. It worked flawlessly and was included with any plan, so it was perfect. Imagine my surprise when 2 days ago I attempted to sign on and got a worrying "Network Error". I knew something was up but didn't have the time to deal with it so I cut my loss for the day and continued my work.
So when I got up today I tried to sign on after my cordless died and didn't feel like waiting for it to charge... Tried to sign on, and I got the "Network Error" again. This time there was a link on the bottom so I clicked and my suspicion was confirmed. Now they charge for it... I called and spoke to a woman and aired my opinion. "So basically you are forcing people to upgrade to Vonage pro in order to use Vonage Companion which is the old Vonage Talk" She said flat out "Yes"! BUT she continued to say you can sign up for a softphone account and STILL pay 10 bucks for something that should be FREE to begin with!
She kept trying to get me to upgrade to Vonage pro saying it will save me money on taxes... WHAT a whopping 60cents?! Something is up with this whole thing and don't know what yet but I am sure soon I will find out.
I told her I would pay 5 bucks maybe but not 10 for something I am not going to use to the full extent. The visual voice mails are a joke and all the other features are pointless if you ask me and you get nearly all of them in the 25 dollar plan. She said that was not possible though so I began to get irritated and she could tell so she went on the spiel about thank you for calling Vonage blah blah
I ended the call with "I hope you get lots of calls from angry people such as myself for pulling the rug out from under people for something that should be included to begin with." and hung up
So now here I sit with no caller ID popping up on my desktop as the phone rings...
