DirecTV Inc Complaint - DirecTV and Verizon Scam
I have decided to make it my life's mission to discourage anyone and everyone from falling victim to the lies, and unethical business practices of Verizon and now Direct TV.
Over a year ago I fell prey to the smooth talking salesman at the Verizon Wireless store. My family had had wireless services (4 lines) with them for the last 4 years. What enticed me was the idea of paying 1 bill for the all services and of course, that sweet NFL package.
The money savings.....LIE...the 200 dollar AmEx card I could use to pay my bill.....LIE...no equipment to buy.....LIE.
After tolerating the chaos of the switch.....the lack of help getting connected, the 33% INCREASE in my bill from what was originally quoted, I began having regular problems with my internet service. 23 hours of phone tech support later over the course of a 2 week period, I asked for a discount on my 650 dollar bill...Verizon decided that my time was worth about 25 bucks.
That wasn't good enough for me....I decided to cancel all services with Verizon but keep Direct TV. Another mistake....wait... this gets better.
Verizon made my last bundled payment to Direct TV then TOOK IT BACK, saying it was an uncollectable amount....I had to double pay Direct TV directly to get my cable turned back on. After several failed attempts to recitfy the situation through a conference call between the two companies, as recommended by Direct TV, and repeatedly being hung up on by Verizon...I just gave up, bit the bullet and double paid for two months of service. Wait....it gets better..
Yesterday.....three months after cancelling with Verizon, I get a bill from Direct TV stating that I owe them almost 500 dollars! What? Well apparently Verizon decided to really stick it to me for cancelling, and took even more money back from Direct TV saying it was uncollectable from 4 months ago.
After 45 minutes on phone with Direct TV's integrated billing service, I get accused of not paying my bills, and told that I am not worth it as a customer to help me resolve the issue....that I need to take it up with Verizon (the comany that keeps hanging up on me)
Needless to say, I have switched to Sprint for cellular service and have been very pleased to far, and have gone back to Brighthouse for internet and cable (should never have left them in the first place).
As I write this...my husband is on the phone with Direct TV trying to cancel our service...which should be easy since they think we don't pay our bills...and he is actually being told that we shouldn't switch just because we are to ignorant to understand the billing process.
This has been an infuriating, degrading and completely unsatisfactory experience with both companies, and I hope that I can get at least one hardworking person to save his or her money and stear clear of the Verizon/Direct TV scam!
