Nextel Complaint - Nextel i530....not a wise investment
TORRANCE, CALIFORNIA -- I work in the medical field and take EMERGENCY call for among other procedures, Coronary Angiograms and Interventional procedures for pts. who are experiencing an acute MI.....heart attack. We must respond and treat the pts. within a specific time period. The hospital I work for decided this past week to give the call team the Nextel i530 phones w/direct connect capability. The purpose was to prevent a delay in contacting the call team, thus improving the treatment for the pts. This phone failed miserably. Poor reception, dropped calls and on top of it, the battery only holds a charge for 22-24 hrs on standby.....only 2-3 min. of actual phone use. After one attempt at using the new Nextel phone system, we went back to our previous emergency call system. Perhaps it's just this phone but we are not in a remote location and all of the people involved experienced problems with the phones. It would be hard to believe that all of us just happen to live in areas that are "in between" antennas. My regular cell phone service with another vendor is much more reliable.
