NEW DELHI -- I would like to bring to light the most disgusting and pathetic service offered to me at the MAIN BRANCH of ICICI Bank in CP, New Delhi.
I had gone with my introductor (Mother) to open a new account on my name. The executives of the bank gave all the forms and took the necessary signatures and proofs. They even called me again twice as they had forgotten to get my signatures some where on the forms, which I didn't mind and I did.
This incident happened on the 4th/5th August 2009. The executives and their head did not have the knowledge of the rules and regulations which were supposed to be followed while opening a new account. After geting my mother's (introducer) signature they had a problem as she wasn't the primary account holder of the other savings account of hers with ICICI.. so again my dad had to step in. This took 1 more week. Again I had to visit the bank and give them the forms and get them signed by my father.
Well if the executives had prior knowledge then this could have been avoided.
3rd problem came as my address is not the same as my parents. I live in another part of delhi bcz of my work and my parents live in Noida. So the executives called me and asked me to get my father's account address changed to my address, which again my father did not mind and he did so.
4th problem was they asked me to pay Rs15000 on 6th August as the deposit to open my account. I did it in cash and was accepted. Till this point the above problems had not been encountered.
5th problem came when the bank had problems as my dad had a QAB charge against his account somewhere in Jan 2009. The bank executives never informed me about such a policy else I could have brought my sister as my introducer. My father;s account is more than 10 years old and he maintains at least a Lac Ruppees in it but unfortunately due to d-mat the allocation took away the whole amount for a day in January which caused him these charges. Frankly, he did not know about it.
The final problem was that the bank rejected my account opening request on 5th September 2009. So my money Rs15000 which was with the bank for almost 3.5 weeks had no interest paid on and neither did the bank re-emburse my travel bills and wasted my time like hell. All this because ICICI executives and their leads, are not trained properly and they do not have prior knowledge of rules and regualations to be followed while opening an account.
They harassed me for 3 weeks and then on the 5th September the bank informed me about the rejection. I straight away wanted to speak to the manager and asked for my refund of Rs 15000. The bank aksed me for another 5 days to refund the same in form or a pay order or a DD which I refused as I had paid them in cash. I had a big fight and some how after 2 days of discussion with one of their operation's manager, somehow they agreed to pay the amount in cash and they did on 6th September 2009.
The manager had all the knowledge about the rules and regulations to be followed and she was also surprised how the executives were not. The executives completely wasted my time, my money and my efforts and this has lead to a disgust for ICICI in my mind. My parents are closing their accounts with the bank and so is my father's company which has almost 450 employees working with it and they all hold pay direct with ICICI.
This was an act of complete fraud by the bank staff as I feel they knew the rules and acted smart enough to generate money for the bank. If our payments are late by a day the bank charges heavy penalties but in my case they kapt my money for a period of 4 weeks and paid me nothing and I had to fight my heart out to get it back.
PLease I advice everyone not to open any accounts with ICICI, not even corporate accounts as their rules are volatile, keep changing and I also believe that their own employees do not have required knowledge of the same. Now I think I have better knowledge than the bank employees in opening an account with ICICI. The staff is really pathetic at the main branch in New Delhi. Anyone can imagine how the other branches might be functioning!
