Langan Audi/VW Complaint - Lying As Management Tool

Review by driver ed on 2009-09-11
SCHENECTADY, NEW YORK -- Langan Audi/VW of Schenectady, NY employs the worst aspects of "bait-and-switch", and "lowballing" that all of us have come to associate with sleazy sales tactics. While the salesman and his sales manager are willing tools in this, one must conclude that aside from a reputation for lousy cars, VW America itself endorses and advocates reprehensible sales schemes. Knowing I was driving 70 miles to SEE a model THEY SAID THEY HAD, upon arrival I discovered they did not have the model. They lamely proffered the old canard of "sold this past Saturday" which if it were true, they could've saved me the trip via email. The TRUTH is: they sold nothing on that Saturday; they never had the vehicle and to top it off, they lowballed the trade-in despite my showing them THEIR OWN ADS revealing what they were retailing comparable vehicles for. Subsequently I was informed by others of their horrible experiences with this dealership - be it their sales tactics, their "servicing" of vehicles or their near-criminal financing scams. STEER CLEAR of this dealership and NEVER, EVER buy a VW.

What proof do you have that they never had the car to begin with? No car dealership is going to value the car the same that they will retail it for.

What are their, near, criminal financing scams??

I'd still buy a VW, just not from them. Assuming everything you said was true.

Why didn't you call them to see if they still had the car on the day you were driving up there? It would've saved you that long drive. Also, like CSD said, why would they buy a car from you then sell it for the same price? Also, why is it that people do their research on car places AFTER they go there instead of before?
