Wal-Mart Complaint - Complicated Case of False Advertising
LACEY, WASHINGTON -- This is a complicated issue involving three entities, WalMart, ucanhealth.com, and yahoo!
I found this grill at the Wal Mart in Lacey, WA. It is a very good looking charcoal grill. I came across a listing in a site called ucanhealth.com that showed the grill for $118, and further states it has a stainless steel hood. There is a statement that ads are provided by Yahoo!. Now, ucanhealth.com does not sell anything, they merely locate items that you are looking for near your location. The grill shown in ucanhealth.com is shown as being available at WalMart in Lacey, WA. I asked about bringing in the printed copy from the ucanhealth site, and the cashier in seasonal said the manager had determined they would not 'comp' from the net. I am familiar with the tterm comp from L:as Vegas, as large bettors being 'comped' suites and more, in the sense of giving them something. Now, if Yahoo! provided the ads in ucanhealth.com, they had to get the info on the grill from someone at the Lacey WalMart. Someone at the WalMart in Lacey gave the information that the grill was for sale for $118 and had a stainless hood, both of which were wrong. The people at Yahoo! didn't just pull that info out of their nether regions. The ucan site does not sell, so this boils down to false advertising on WalMart's part. I have been a loyal WalMart shopper and have defended WalMArt several times when I felt someone wrongly gave WalMArt a bad review. However, this time, I am convinced they have stpeed over the line. The difference in cost is not great, $17, but it is the principle. Someone at WalMart gave Yahoo. the information they printed in ucanhealth.com. Then, a manager, either department or store, decided that the ad would not be honored. I am smart enough to know this is not 'Bait and Switch,' but it is demonstrably False Advertising. A customer, acting on information from a store wishes to make a purchase at a specific price, but store personnel say, "No, oyu can't buy it at that price." This is not an error, I am positive. I am very unhappy with WalMart right now.
