DirecTV Inc Complaint - DIRECTV SUCKS - Bad Customer Service, Poorly Trained Employees
I moved on August 1st 2009. On August 2nd a DirecTV Tech came to my new residence to set up service. Unfortunately the Tech could not get "line of sight", remember that quote, "line of sight". The tech stated that because he could not get "line of sight" service could not be provided. He stated that I should not have to pay the $200 cancellation fee. He stated he would process the paperwork and I should hear from the customer service within 24-48 hours to handle final cancellation. I NEVER heard from customer service until I got a BILL in the mail a few weeks later for service I wasn't getting. I called DirecTV, they told me that I would have to pay a cancellation fee and the final bill. They stated that the tech reported that I had no landlord permission not that the "line of sight" was trouble. Obviously not what the tech told me in the field. I explained that this is not what the tech stated to me. I was told that they would have to send out a different tech for a second opinion. I explained that this was unacceptable. I asked to speak with a supervisor and the call taker ARGUED with me that he was right, he actually argued with me. I couldn't believe it. He stated that the supervisor would tell me the same thing he was telling me. I had to ask another 3-4 times before he actually transferred me to a supervisor. Then I spent 20 minutes on hold before I got to a supervisor. The supervisor was no help and then come to find out he wasn't even the previous call takers supervisor. Needless to say, I sent a complaint email to DirecTV about the trouble. 48 hours later I received an email from DirecTV advising that there had been a mistake by the tech in the field and I needed to call in. I called in and it was handled and I was told I would receive a final bill of $81 and some change. So I figured that everything was ok. I got an automated call on 9/9/09 telling me they were mailing me boxes to return the receiver boxes. I figured again that everything was ok......BOY WAS I WRONG!!!!!
Today 9/12/09 I woke up to an UNAUTHORIZED DirecTV charge to my credit card for $367 and some change. I was dumb-founded. I called DirecTV to find out what the hell was going on. I was told that I was being billed the CANCELLATION FEE and the final charges. I BLEW MY TOP!!! I told them that they had already waived the cancellation fee (no line of sight) and that I was told I would get a final bill for the $81 and some change. I told them that I even got an email verifying the info. THEY HAD NO CLUE WHAT WAS GOING!!!! I called my bank and filied a claim for an unauthorized charge but that won't get money back to me until 9/15/09.
SO it has taken me almost 45 days to cancel my service with DirecTV. They are incompetent fools and I will never, ever get service from them again and you shouldn't either.
