Affordable Glass Services Complaint - Affordable Glass Services: Affordable because he won't do the job in the first place
GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN -- I've never been more frustrated with a contractor than I was with Affordable Glass. Based on a reference from another glass replacement/repair service that only did commercial work, I called Affordable Glass for a residential job; namely, replacing the glass in one of my skylights that has been leaking. After a couple calls, I set up a time with the owner on a Tuesday morning to come measure my skylight and give an estimate to repair it. Tuesday morning came and went, but he did not. My wife called to tell me that he had not shown up. So I called him, and he said he thought we had made the appointment for Wednesday. Well, nobody is at my house on Wednesdays so it wouldn't have made sense for me to schedule it for then.
Cut to a week later for the rescheduled appointment. This time he shows up, measures the window, tells me wife he will call back with his estimate, and is gone fairly quickly. Three days or so later, he has not called back with the estimate, so I call him. He gives me the estimate, and I say I'd like to go ahead and have him do the job. He tells me he would order the glass and then call back to set up a time to do the replacement in 7 to 10 days when the glass arrives.
Cut again to two weeks later: No phone call. So I call him back again. He tells me that the glass was cracked in transit and he will have to re-order it. I'm slightly miffed that he hadn't called to tell me this, but he says he will call back when the replacement glass comes in and we leave it at that.
Cut to another three weeks later: No phone call. I call him back again, this time considerably less optimistic about how the phone call is going to go. "Oh, I think we got that order in," he tells me. "I'll have to check with the guys when I get back." I'm not sure who "the guys" are, since this appears to be a one man operation, and I'm pretty skeptical about the chances of him calling me back at this point. Sure enough, it has now been three more days since that last phone call and I have not heart back from him.
At this point, I have started looking at other contractors again. I'm very upset that I spent so much time waiting for this guy to do the work he said he'd do, and during the time I've been waiting I've had significantly more leakage in my skylight, which in turn is causing water damage in the ceiling around the skylight. I'm back at square one, and there's no reason for it other than this guy just does not care.
