My3cents.com Informative - People Need to Downplay the Hyperbole
When posting to My3Cents.com, people need to tone down the words they use in their posts. Obviously, none of them have ever been on the losing end of a libel suit. Libel is the publication of false accusations that harm a company's goodwill and can cost them business. People seem to think they can post whatever they wish, and are protected by "Free Speech." Think again. Posts like Don't do business with XYZ, they are crooks, or ABC is nothing but a scam, open you up to lawsuit for libel. You have the obligation of writing your review in a cool emotionless manner, and only put the absolute truth in it. Only include information you can prove with documentation, or you may be hit with a lawsuit that will cost you your home, car, everything. People say talk is cheap. Not when you are sued for the information you put out in public view. BTW, it IS libel. Slander you say, libel you letter. Easy way to remeber the difference. Either way, it exposes you to more trouble than you ever want in your life. Watch Marilyn Milian a few times.
