J. Mark Complaint - Customer "Service"?

Review by Mol67 on 2009-09-15
FLORIDA -- The $60 toy aquarium I purchased looked like a piece of junk. I saw a comparable one at WalMart for $10, but J. Mark's website warns "Don't be tricked by look-alike imitations ...."! So, I thought this would be a real, high quality product. I was disappointed, but didn't want to spend another $20 returining the thing so I used it as my kids' nightlight, about 10 hours per night about 14 nights per month. It broke. I wrote the company and asked what could be done to rectify the situation. Here's the response I got after she told me "there's nothing we can do about it" and I again complained:

"B******* at J. Mark" 2:29pm

I'm sorry but everything you buy has warnings about misuse and abuse that void replacement.
FACE IT... YOU BROKE IT!!! Why should I pay for that? I did not make it!!

I simply work in an office. The warehouse takes the time to open and try every piece before it leaves here. We have a 100% satisfaction rating with everything we sell. Go to www.BuyerComments.com and see what your complaint looks like to me!!

I have some broken things around my house. Would you like to pay me for them? You think like a jerk. You will never be happy with anything you break."

Wow, thanks B******, how enlightening. I'll be SURE to buy more crap from J. Mark in future.

J. Mark posts their own "100% happy" comments on "BuyerComments.com", how legit do you think that is? Anyway, I'm disgusted. They could have offered me anything, but "YOU BROKE IT" just doesn't cut it in my customer service business.

how long is their warranty period?
Posted by Mol67 on 2009-09-15:
Well, she says I voided any possible warranty b/c I broke it by not strictly adhering to "The manufacturer recommends that you do not run it for more than 8 hours, adequately ventilated. Overheating can ruin the film layers", and by running it for 7 nights of 8 - 11 hours in a row (then it's off for a week).

Tell me then, how can a doctor's office use such a thing as is splashed all over their website? She tells me it's also not meant to be run every day; where does it say that? Aren't doctor's offices open 5 or 6 days a week? Unfortunately I got rid of the box since it was not going to be returned, so if there was any written warranty, it's long gone.

Here is their "guarantee" verbatim from website, "we guarantee our merchandise to be brand new first quality, direct from the source, we cannot accept returns."

Thanks for the thought though, andbran!

Here's the latest email rec'd from J. Mark's B****** after I told her about 3 cents and Ripoff Report posting:

"from: B****** at J. Mark

subject: Re: Fw: Notification of payment received

You will be featured on www.TheShopperFromHell.com
No one I know of will sell to you online! It has 70,000 subscribers. If you slander my company I will have you prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. See a lawyer before you make an ass of yourself.

God is watching you make a slanderous liar of yourself. You are sinning intentionally.
You have already caused God to remove your husband instead of getting you an adoring husband like I have. Look at your detestable ways.

No wonder your husband left YOU!!! When your kid is old enough he'll leave you too. You are mentally defective."

OMG! I just discovered the website B****** mentions is their own website bashing people who make negative comments on them! So, what does that say about their "100% happy" feedback and "impeccable reputation"!??!

Latest update 9/17/09 from my friend B****** at J. Mark:

"Barbara at J. Mark to me
show details 11:45 AM (7 minutes ago)

You are vulgar in God's eyes. He made you and gave you rules to abide by. But you rejected Him. You lie. You slander people. Your husband was repulsed by you. But you keep on going.
God said the punishment for lying and slander should be stoning to death. Keep it in mind, that in our time "stoning to death" means one blow after another until you become sick inside
and die.

You wore out your fish tank. I told you the box warned not to run it more than 8 hours or to let it get overheated. It is NOT SOLD IN WAL-MART For $10.00. Wal-Mart does NOT sell our merchandise. You are a sick lady heading for death."

My mom always told me to consider the source, when I complained about what people said. You know what she says is not the reality of your life. She is wrong to attack you, but what goes around comes around. If she is this way with you, she certainly is that way with others. What an unhappy life she must have if that is her attitude.

I realize that in my life I am going to have x number good things happen to me, x number of times cheated, x number of loves. I just don't know the number. When this happens to me, I just try to chalk it up as one of those times I am going to be cheated. Thankfully, it was not for much, and it certainly isn't worth ruining a day of your life over.
