Europcar Complaint - Read the fine print - car rental
Avoid using Europcar. First, their offices are usually pretty far from where you want to be, so you have to hunt it down or take a taxi. It took me an hour to find the office in Sienna and, since it was a Sunday, they were not supposed to be open, but someone did wait for me to show up. Second, they have fees for just about everything. The first car I rented in France, which was a nice Seat, had on the contract that if the car was dirty at all, they would charge me 50 Euros to clean it! Good thing I found a car wash close by when I dropped it off. Had to take a taxi to the train station as the office was not convenient. Third, they charge your card 2 months after dropping the car off for other charges. I noticed a charge on my card in August for a car I dropped off in late May. They finally got back to me and said the 51 Euros was for dropping the car off after hours and for taxes that weren't pre-paid. Use Avis or Hertz or whatever big company has an office at the airport or train station...you'll be glad you did.
