DirecTV Inc Complaint - Stay away from DirecTV or your wallet will pay the price
My DirecTV services were cancelled due to my inability to pay for them. That's fine, I was prepared to pay what I owe for the service, BUT was not prepared for them to swipe equipment charges from my bank account to the tune of approximately $176 and change. When the service is cancelled they send you boxes in which to return the equipment and supposedly give you 7 days to return the equipment or they will charge you for it. I called the day after I received the boxes to let them know I was returning the equipment so not to take money from me. The person I spoke to on the phone said it was no problem and took my payment for services. That same day the equipment charges were stolen from my bank account. This was on August 29, 2009. When I saw the money was taken the next day of course was not a "business day" so nothing could be done. They received my equipment back on September 4, 2009 and told me it would be 72 hours before I would get a refund. Fine, 72 hours came and went, then when I called about this they said it would be 10 days. Well, now 10 days has come and went and now they say 6-8 WEEKS. This is ridiculous! I need this money badly, but these thieves don't care. They are a horrible company and really need to be sued and put out of business for putting people through this kind of stress. If I stole $176 from someone I would be in jail. Why can they get away with it? I just don't understand, but I wanted to come on every site I can and warn people of their shady business practices. Stay away from this company if you value your money.
