Courtyard by Marriott Complaint - Courtyard by Marriott Arlington Va

Complaint
Review by camrygirl08 on 2009-09-19
ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA -- I stayed two days for a business trip here and the hotel to say the least was very unprofessional. for $239 a night you get no complimentary breakfast during the week (per desk clerk) coffee was not even free. The beds were half made and I sent for some blankets and got blankets that you would find at the five and dime store b/c they were so ruff to the touch. The blankets had ciggerrett burns in them all through out. Next door to the hotel was construction that didn't start until at night so you didn't sleep or slept in between the dump trucks rattling and claning on. Also the parking is inproper for the amount of rooms they have. A very little parking lot that goes in the wrong way from the start two cars cannot get in and out the driveway there. They could learn a lot from other sister hotels I will never stay there again and caution you greatly. Also they have no shuttle services how absurd is that in this day and time.

"Also they have no shuttle services how absurd is that in this day and time"

A lot of hotels to not have shuttle service.

Not absurd at all. Also they cannot stop the construction that's going on around them.

The higher you go in a particular hotel chain, the comps get less and you pay for more.

While perhaps at that rate they should have provided a complimentary breakfast and a shuttle, there is nothing they can do about off site construction.

For that kind of money, they should give you a hot breakfast and coffee as a courtesy. The construction they cant do anything about that.

I'm really not sure why breakfast should be free, regardless of the cost of the room. Coffee? I don't know. Don't most places have something in your room, next to an iron or a hair dryer?
Posted by i_am_canadian on 2009-09-19:
I don't know. Of course they're not obligated to provide anything beyond the room itsself but for 240 dollars, I myself might question why I had to leave the hotel and spend extra money at McDonald's or Hardee's. It wouldn't even have to be a hot breakfast, just cereal and tea biscuits.
I would know enough however to direct such comments to a manager, not the front desk clerk.

Ah, Hardees'! I haven't eaten there in years! Probably still as bad and overpriced now as it was then :).

I call shenanigans on this review. There are two Courtyard by Marriott hotels in Arlington, VA (in Rosslyn and Crystal City). Neither is located at 2700 Arlington Drive. In fact, there is no Arlington Drive in Arlington. There is an Arlington Boulevard and an Arlington Ridge Road, neither of which has a Marriott of any type located at 2700.

What hotel did you really stay at?
Posted by i_am_canadian on 2009-09-19:
I myself haven't eaten there since I visited Nashville in 1996. Their breakfast filled the spot (barely) but that's about it.

There is a Courtyard By Marriott at 2700 Eisenhower Avenue in Alexandria Virginia, but that was the closest I could find.

Competition is why the comps are there. HI Express, Hampton, Comfort etc in that price range have to offer them attract customers. You get in a in a higher price range, you pay for parking, wi-fi, breakfast etc....that's just how it is.

I know I've never chosen a hotel because they offered a free breakfast. I actually may have stayed at the Courtyard in Crystal City. Nice area.

Well, if she was staying at the one on Eisenhower Avenue, that one does offer a shuttle to the Metro and to Old Town Alexandria. The two in Arlington don't because they are closer to Metro and other amenities (numerous restaurants within walking distance, for example). But, there still is no hotel at 2700 Arlington Drive in Arlington, VA as noted by the original poster.

Eisenhower Avenue is where I stayed.Whoever said they have shuttle service has not asked the three people at the front desk b/c they DO NOT offer it.I know they cannot help the construction going on but they could tell you before you drive the distance I did and paid.I'm not asking for a huge amount just cleanliness and a little respect for my dollar .They offer NOTHING
Posted by i_am_canadian on 2009-09-20:
All right then, why did you state at the beginning of the review that these accomodations were located on Arlington Drive?
Posted by DCGirl on 2009-09-20:
Eisenhower Avenue is not in Arlington. It's in Alexandria. If you expect Marriott to take your complaint seriously, then you need to accurately tell them which location you stayed at. Otherwise, your feedback is meaningless.

The hotel's website indicates that they have shuttle service, and I have known people who've stayed there and used the shuttle. If the shuttle is no longer offered and it's on the website, then you have a legitimate complaint about that.

I'm not sure where you're from, but $239 in the Washington, DC area is pretty average for hotel of the caliber of a Courtyard by Marriott.
