Office of Consumer Affairs Complaint - fraudulent car sales
VA BEACH, VIRGINIA -- As a honest consumer from your state, I felt it was my responsibility to bring to your attention the following incident.
I Purchased a used car,for almost $10,000 including extended warrenty, only have car for
one year car has'nt been driven in over a month because timing chain broke. I learned about a month and a half ago that this car that I purchased has been wrecked twice prior to them selling it to me, I ran a check thru carfax.com and it came back with a clean title, but while tranfer insurance co's, I was
informed that this vehicle has been wrecked 2 times with total of $8,000 in damage. I would like to know what can be done about this, this is the second time I've been stuck paying for a car that I was never told had been wrecked. Are there any laws in place to protect consumers from not being told if the car they are buying is in good condition, nobody in their right mind would knowingly buy a car they know has been wrecked.
As a resolution, I would like the following:
I paid $1,350 for an extended warrenty, which has now run out, and I can't afford to pay someone to fix the car, I think they should be responsibe for fixing the car or give me back my hard earned money. I drive 70 miles to work everyday and I need tranportation without worrying that my car won't make it there.
Please feel free to contact me if you would like more details regarding this incident.
