Chase Manhattan Bank Complaint - Who manages your money
When my husband and I moved in together I took over responsibility of managing finances he banks with chase so I opened an account. I have had so many terrible experiences it would take me hours to list them all. However, one major tid bit I will share because it will be useful.
I had 610.00 in my account. I made two debit card purchases on Saturday one for 18.00 one for 50.00. They both posted to the account immediately. I had a payment coming out of my account on Monday for 580.00 I wanted this to be sent back insufficient because the company I was making the payment to would not refinance unless the payment was sent back insufficient. They paid the 587.00 and it sent put me in to the red on my account. That was completely my fault. However, today I logged on and noticed that the transactions were moved around. The debits from Saturday were now listed on Tuesday after the 587.00 transaction. This means that instead of having one fee of 35.00 for my account going into the red over a 30.00 over draw I now had two 35.00 fees. I know it isn't a huge amount but for a struggling family it makes a big difference. I have been going through my account and comparing receipts to my statements and this has hapened repeatedly. I am taking all of the info to the bank first thing in the morning to show them in black and white. How can this be leagal? I called them and they're explanation is that they put the higher transactions through first becasue they assume that they are more important. My thought is who are you to decide what is more important with my money. How convenient that one negative transaction can turn into five because the "more important transaction" was moved ahead of the others. I advise you all to go through your statemnet and see how many times this has happened to you!!!
