Avon Products Informative - Selling Avon

Review by GrannyGwen on 2009-09-22
I am interested in selling Avon in the very near future. My job is moving to Atlanta, and I would like to proceed with a home based business. Has anyone out there had any prior experience with selling Avon, or knows of someone who did. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

The one thing I can tell you about Avon, Amway and the other big, reputable direct selling/multilevel marketing companies is that you have to really work to make them pay off for you. There are no overnight successes. I don't care how they've presented it to you, if you want to make good money at it - and you definitely can - you have to be firmly committed to it and spend a lot of time to make it happen, just as you would with any other business. If you think you can sneak in, work a few hours a week, and somehow rake in the money, you will completely fail and be back here complaining about them. Good luck!

I've been selling Avon since March 2008. I've made Honor Society, Unit Leader, & have won trips. Yes, you do have to work it. It's just like going to work for someone else, but Avon does sell it self. Treat your customers the way you want to be treated & they will be very loyal to you.

i can offer a little bit of advice. i am an avon rep..ive been doing it for about 3 months. not so experienced but i understand the business for the most part. i am about to close my account for personal reasons but i have made a little over $1,000 in total sales..so i think it is good for extra money. the only thing is like any self employed business..you do have to pay some out of pocket. you have to pay for brochures, and any other business tools you may need..and any fees avon charges you, and they can be pretty bad about that. i think you just have to be smart about your business. be organized. alot of ppl are dissatisfied with avon, and i have to admit i have been at times as well. you have to be a salesperson..but yet at sometimes it can just sell itself. i think older ppl are good loyal customers. they usually like the jewelry. church is a really good place to get customers, or at work. and you would be suprised, with some ppl they actually place an order every campaign. others dont. but you have to be about your money. i collected my money ahead of time to make sure everyone made their payments. the only thing is you should not pay avon until you get your order and invoice to see exactly how much you owe them, and also to see if any of the items ordered were unavailable because it does happen a good bit. and so you have to refund the money. i have used alot of the products as well. alot of the products are really good. i like the makeup products. although i should warn you there have been many complaints about the skin care causing a red, itchy rash sort of like a sunburn and i have had it myself too. it cleared up with hydrocortisone cream but others have had worse problems. i recommend doing the research before you really decide whether you want to sell avon or not and be careful about the skincare if you decide to. of course everyones skin is different, so anyone could react. but i do think it is a good idea if you decide to sell to wear the products, such as the makeup. for example if you try a new lipstick, and you are speaking with a customer about avon..you can simply say by the way, this lipstick im wearing is made by avon. and it is an easy way to get an order on the spot if you have the product to show, or to try. i think you can be successful with selling avon you just have to be commited to it..be patient..dont get frustrated over small things. there are alot of frustrating things about avon sometimes. i think everyone has a different experience, so try it if you want. you might just be very succesful in it.

i'd also recommend checking out a few other brands to sell as well

in my opinion ... if you have to fork over money to start up, or if you have to buy supplies.. don't bother.

there's some good companies out there that DON'T charge you for a startup kit
