Alaska Airlines Compliment - Alaska airlines a great company to deal with

Compliment
Review by dan gordon on 2009-09-22
Since 99% of posters complain about the airlines let me tell you a nice story with a happy ending. I booked a ticket online and apparently clicked on the wrong date. Since I didn't' want to spend the nite or pay the $100 change fee plus airfare differnce I just didn't use the ticket and took Amtrak home. The ticket value was $94 and Alaska told me they would let me use that value for up to one yr but I would have to pay $100 change fee. Paying $100 to use $94 didn't make a whole lot of sense so I called their customer relations dept and asked if they would waive the fee or compromise with me? The gal said she understood my point and why don't they just credit me back the airfare value? Pretty easy and simple and I didn't ever have to grovel.
Thats why Alaska has a loyal customer base.

Another good reason to book directly with airlines, hotels, rental car agencies, etc.

Alaska Air offered me a job a few years back. I should have left US Airways and taken that job at Alaska

I guarantee you that most airlines will not refund a nonrefundable ticket just because the agent sees the point of view of the customer regardless of how you book. Next time I fly Alaska and don't use part of my ticket I will claim that they broke the rules for someone else:)

Alaska also lets you fly standby on day of departure or return for no charge unlike many other carriers which makes them ahead of the curve of their competitors.

We found Alaska Airlines to be the way to fly when we were coming to Washington on vacation. They were very friendly, accepted our service dogs, not questions asked, I don't even think I had to show their ID cards. In Washington they picked us up almost at the front door with wheelchair service and took us directly to the plane, when we got to Phoenix, however, we were picked up at the plane, taken to luggage and left there to fend for ourselves. Porters in Washington where far more friendly and accomodating. When we got off the plane in Seattle, wheelchairs were waiting at the plane, they took us to baggage, stayed with us until our son found us and helped with baggage, then wheeled us right out to his truck. All the while asking a hundred questions about the dogs...their age, breed, names, etc...but not once entertained anything to do with their service status.

My wife works for Alaska Airlines, and she will indeed, from time to time, forgive certain fees. DEMANDING it, won't get you anywhere.

It's all in the attitude. Sometimes it can get certain fees excused, sometimes it might get you a 1st Class upgrade.
