Searscard.com Complaint - Misinformation and stupid business practice

Review by uncle D on 2009-09-22
Approx. a year ago I purchased a big screen TV from my local Sears outlet. I was not told at time of purchase about any promotions. I recently received my billing statement and was blindsided by a fince charge almost equal to my account balance. I immediately called Sears customer service to inquire about the charges and was told that that because I didn't pay off the account before the promotion ran out that I was liable for all the finance charges. I have been a Sears customer for approx 30-35 yrs. as has my wife(she has own account) but because of this we will no longer be doing business with Sears. If Sears is so desperate for cash-flow that they choose to screw-over good, reliable customers, then I hope they continue their down-hill slide. I can buy anything Sears has from Wal-Mart, Lowe's, etc..

I hope you forward this to Sears and some over-paid exec. finally earns their money and realizes this is not the way to do business. If they wish to reply, my e-mail address is dburger@us-concrete, com.

Thank you.

Oh, but they make millions doing this. It is very profitable. They are not about to stop.

Unfortunately it up to you to understand how your financing has been set up. Since you say you have done business with Sears for 30-35 years you are old enough to know the pitfalls of not reading sales agreements before signing them.

Chalk this one up to experience.

and what did you think was happening with the finance charges you were not billed for monthly? On my sears statement is lists the pending finance charges along with the expiration date of the finance offer. did you even look at your statement for the last year?

Any no-interest promotion I've ever had, on any credit card, was always referenced on the monthly statement.

My husband has a Sears card and has payed extra every month since we got it. This month our interest went up again!!! I hope they enjoy the extra money on the interest because as soon as I can it will be payed off. Never to be used again!!!!!

the way credit cards are these days it's better to pay the bills off in full right away, instead of being in debt.

i'm almost wondering if credit cards will eventually die
cos it's becoming too risky for a lot of people
