Discount Tire Co Complaint - Discount Tire Doesn't Stand Behind The Tires They Sell!

Review by azngosh8r on 2009-09-22
PEORIA, ARIZONA -- On Monday, September 15 I stopped by the local Discount Tire because my truck was pulling to the right and the steering wheel was vibrating.

The salesman came out and touched my tire and said "we need to replace these 3 tires because they are separating". I said ok and he checked availability...Nope not in town, not even in state, will take 3 days to get them from the Faulken factory..

They never mentioned is it safe to drive with separating tires? Nope..They don't care!

I waited 7 days then called them today. "Yes we have them..Come right over"

I stopped by and they replaced all 3 tires...Breaking two center caps in the process... Then to my surprise...That's $347 sir....
What?!

Oh yes, you have no warranty...Even if the tire is defective? I asked? "Nope no warranty, just prorated for treadwear"...I asked "shouldn't you have mentioned that when you said we need to replace them?"
They said "im sure we did sir...Why wouldn't we"
I asked my wife who was with me and she said absolutely not, she also thought the replacement would be free...No money was ever mentioned. They just played dumb...Or are they?
The manager even said "well, any reasonable person would think there was a charge sir"
long story short, I paid, left very upset and outta there..

Discount tire sucks!

P.S. They said the center caps they broke are on backorder and they won't get them for 3-4 months!

Ive spent appx $15,000 at discount in the past 10 years on my 10+ carz, always get custom wheels and tires right away...

They have lost my business forever!

you havent said in your post when you bought the last set. i have always bought my tires from them and never had bad service

You also drove on the tires to start with so you knew they were ok to drive on temporarily. NEVER agree to purchase without getting a price first.

"discount tires" shoulda told ya something.
Another case of "it's not my responsibility"

We have a Discount Tires and they are awesome. The OP should have asked if there was going to be a charge or if the tires were covered under warranty. Especially since they had to be special ordered.

They tell you the price before the work is done at Discount Tire. Why would you assume you had a warranty other than the prorated mileage warranty? Tires aren't free.

Also, jktshff1, Discount Tire is the largest independent tire dealer in the United States. That should tell you something.

"They never mentioned is it safe to drive with separating tires?"

Someone has to TELL you this?

My first thought is... "tire is separating" means the tire is splitting apart.
