Vac2Buy Complaint - Rude and False Advertising at VAC2BUY in Los Angeles, California

Review by Anonymous on 2004-07-14
90403 -- Vac2Buy does not offer a "low price guarantee" as their web site states, plus salesmen are rude and defensive.

When you walk into the store, they price the TV's at an outdated price which is 6 months old (ex. $5999.99). Then they mark it down $2.03 from Sony's published Retail Rate (ex. $5497.97). This makes it look as if you are saving a bundle, ex. $502.03, instead you save $2.03. Ok, maybe there is no crime about that, but here is the kicker:

The store offers a low price guarantee, so I found a store which meets their "GUARANTEE" and sells it cheaper.

Automatically, the salesman gets defensive and says no, they only beat rates of Best Buy, Walmart, and Goodguys.. HELLO???? What they publish on their site is below. It doesn't state anything about the "competitor must be instate and/or that it has to be one of the companies above". I talked to a second salesman and got the same reply.

I didn't even go as far as to tell them to match the price, just meet in the middle!

SAVE YOURSELVES and DO NOT go to that store. Why spend any money at a store which can not back up their "before purchase" promise.

The store owner really need to rethink his/her policy and educate his/her employees.

That is what it says and I donít see an asterisk or other disclaimers. If you are sure the criteria was meet on the three points they listed, you could file a complaint with the FTC, at www.ftc.gov. They do not get involve with any resolutions for you, but they may want to look closer at the storeís advertising if it hits them the wrong way.
