Erie Insurance Home Owner Policies Complaint - Erie adjuster's lie and company uses "strong arm" tactics

Review by Erie Sucks on 2009-09-23
P.O. BOX 1699 ERIE, PENNSYLVANIA -- An F1 classified tornado hit our area this past July and substantial damage occurred. Erie sent an adjuster out and was emphatic in assuring us we were covered for specific damage, tree and stump removal, etc. Alas, upon submitting the work order, the "higher ups" in the company said no and to make matters worse, the adjuster claimed he never said we were covered and my agent was worthless!!! Three witnesses were there and know he said we were covered and
to make matters worse, Erie had their lawyers send us a "strong arm" letter implying we were lying and there was possible fraud in our claim and they wanted us to produce tax records and all sorts of data-very strange. When they came to "interview" me they wanted to record the conversation; I said no problem but I was going to record it too. They said "no" and stormed out. What were they afraid of? The truth perhaps.
They have been arrogant and downright accusatory in their tactics to deny a claim. I have canceled our insurance with them as well as all our business insurance across the country and would not recommend anyone use them. No doubt our claim will go to court (and they will lose as they have in the past) and it is a shame they do not understand nor seem to care about morality and ethics nor that the time and money they spend trying to shirk their responsibilties cost them more than if they had they owned upped to their responsibilites. A very bad company!

What does your policy say it covers? And do you have a copy of your agents report, that says what your agent told you, in writing?
