Travelocity Complaint - Overcharged after the fact
I puchased 3 airfares from Travelocity and agreed to pay the price, and was told my credit card would be billed that price. However, when I received the receipt on the E-mail, the price was approximately $450 more than what I had agreed to when I clicked the 'make purchase' box.
After being told it was my fault that I did not see the price had changed, I found the same price on Expedia (who actually had excellent customer service to make that long story short) and called Travelocity back to let it be known I would not pay for the ticket for which I had been overcharged. Fortunately, my Citi credit card has also provided me excellent service and I know that I can challenge any charges.
The second person at Travelocity I called voided the charges now that I was equipped with the same low fare from a competitor.
I know everyone makes mistakes, so I repurchased the ticket from travelocity, this time printing out the charges and the statement of how much my credit card would be charged only to find that I had once again been overcharged approximately $450, although it was a different overcharge from the first one.
Customer service was quite unhelpful and mostly unapologetic. More disturbingly, I perceived no hint of surprise or remorse from any of the customer service representatives in India. I was left with the impression that this was business as usual.
Oviously, I will not use Travelocity again and believe anyone should take pause before they do. At the least, look at your receipt and check out the charges immediately after booking.
Good luck everyone
