E-Harmony Complaint - Check e-harmony profile settings

PASADENA, CALIFORNIA -- I was automatically billed by e-harmony for a 6 month renewal, $140.95. I hadn't logged onto the service for weeks. I intended to just let it expire. When I noticed the charge on my Pay Pal account, I tried to call e-harmony. They were experiencing high telephone traffic and suggested I call back later. I was told since I didn't un-check the automatic renewal on my profile, they wouldn't refund my money. They did offer a refund of half of my money, and another 6 month membership. I declined. They did not tell me that my 6 month membership was about to expire, or ask if it was okay to take my money. When you sign up with e-harmony you are automatically signed up for automatic renewal. It's up to you to change it. Who knew when I signed up that I was signing up to get screwed (I hoped to, but not by e-harmony). I can not recommend e-harmony to anyone. It is my personal mission to post as many bad reviews as I can to save anyone else using e-harmony.

good review, bugnut. this is a good reminder to all that you got to watch out for any online membership enrollment, whatever type it may be. they count on you to miss the *uncheck* option so precisely what happened to you will happen.
