Burlington Coat Factory Complaint - Poor customer service and return policy
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS -- I purchased some winter boots on 8/31/09. It is still warm here in TX so I did not wear the boots until 10/6/09. At the end of the day yesterday the heel broke on one of them. I tried to return the boots today for a credit/exhange, ANYTHING, and was told no in a variety of different ways. The first reason was that it was past 30 days- I get that- however the store sells winter boots in August. Is wearing them in October for the first time that out of the ordinary? The second reason was that they were worn. DUH- I just told you I wore them all day. The clerk kept saying they were obviously worn and that they only accept merchandise that they can sell again. I asked him if you are supposed to walk around in your house on carpet for 30 days to make sure a heel does not break? He had no response. I asked him at what point does Burlington stand behind the products that they sell? I often dealt with the long lines, poor customer service, junk-yard appearance, old fitting rooms, etc because the prices were good. Not any longer. It is better to buy a more expensive pair of boots from a reputable company than to wear a $24.99 pair for one day. They lost out on a good customer. I USED to purchase a lot there- I will NEVER go back.
