Jobfox.com Informative - Scam Recruiters! - Employment Recruiting Firm

Review by Bx_Sunshine on 2009-10-15
Don't use this firm if you are in the market for a job. They allow you to sign up and then offer to critique your resume for free. After a very crass critique to scare you straight, they give you their sales pitch of re-writing your resume for an astronomical fee.

They are taking advantage of the unemployed!

Nothing in the world is free nowadays, unless somebody is volunteering for school hours or whatnot. No business is going to offer a service from the kindness of their hearts, no strings attached. Almost always a sales pitch will be involved.

I don't like the service and I don't like the mail I keep getting about advantage membership and resume writing. I think it's spam and it's annoying. The resume critique I got was pretty lame and glad it was free bc I wouldn't buy it. I see the bad reviews about Job Fox so I won't use it. Resume Pal feature confusing bc I still have to fill in forms from participating employers even if I have a JF account and I thought that it was universal. I wish there was a phone # or email I could use to find out why which seems to be the major complaint of users. It offers upgraded features but you don't have to pay if you don't want to - and that is a good thing.

Flexanimous Fellow, apparently you misunderstood that the aforementioned is misadverstising their services and taking advantage of people in desperate search of employment in a dead economy. If you have nothing intelligent to contribute, please stay off of my postings.

what are they charging?

I've used a professional myself but I shopped around first
Posted by Suzn on 2009-10-22:
They charge about $400.
Posted by Pepper on 2009-10-22:
actually that's about right for professional resume writers
however i would suggest shopping around first and seeing what else is available

I agree it's the going rate for resumes but if the free "resume critique" is any indication I doubt you'd be interested and might find a real resume writer as opposed to a computer generated one. There are a lot of good places out there but JobFox service is really bad. Hope this helps.

I have taken some of their advice to improve areas on my resume. However, most of it was already there, which made me think if they have even looked at it before sending their critique.
I have applied for 30+ jobs through jobfox, but had not received a single response from employers. With this and the fact that I have been (only) a basic member, I have my doubts that they even forwarded my applications to any one of the advertising employers. It sure seems to be the same scam like the Ladders job portal.

No recommendation to waste time and efforts with them.
