R.W.Knudsen Complaint - Apple juice drinkers - BEWARE!

Review by shell0527 on 2009-10-21
A friend recently sent me an email about apple juice in the US. Turns out that most (if not all) apple juice used in the US comes from apple juice concentrate from CHINA. I was skeptical but did my own research and found this to be true. This includes RW Knudsen - found in most natural health food stores and touted as bein "natural and organic."
I contacted them directly and found them evasive in their responses. They never admitted that the apple juice concentrate they use is from China but they did NOT deny it either. They did admit that they use products from other countries in their juices. Here's what they wrote: "When we do source from anywhere outside the United States, you can be assured that these ingredients also meet our high quality assurance standards. "
Given all of the crap that has been coming out of China, I don't trust anything, consumables and non-consumables, from China. And, how can Knudsen state that their products are organic when part of the ingredients are not even under their control? They wrote that they have certificates from these suppliers outside of the US - I think that these certificates aren't worth the paper on which they are written.

Why? Only the U.S. does things legally and honestly? I think we'd better get used to this. In our lifetimes, this type of thing isn't gonna change. We can fight for and buy only locally made products but the reality is, China can make things cheaper and that's what businesses want for their stockholders which in turn, makes them tons of money. Money is king.

perhaps you should consider buying your apple juice from an orchard.

here in upstate ny ...w ell there's a lot of orchards so we can do that. we can go out directly to the orchard to buy it or get it from the local grocery store with the orchard's name on the bottle

the cider's really nice too.

empires are my favorites.
tho i don't believe they specifically make Empire Juice
unless an orchard carries it... tho it might be more expensive

So, because the ingredients are imported from China, that means the apple juice is automatically bad? Most of the best things come from China.

well personally i can understand being concerned...

there have been recent issues in the news about tainted foods and medicines originating from china.

when i was in japan there was widespread issue with tainted gyoza (pot stickers) imported from China. I forget what was wrong with them specifically... some kind of e-coli maybe, but it was bad enough that people in Japan were being hospitalized and there were even a few deaths.

so on base we were all told to not eat the gyoza coming in from china.

then again i wasn't so worried... the gyoza i ate was at this nice little restaurant that made it fresh....

but still... they had to be careful.

Thank you for the prompt response, Pepper. :-)
I retract what I say then... since I can't edit it.
