Roadway Inn Fresno Complaint - I was Ripped off - unused hotel room
FRESNO, CALIFORNIA -- I booked a room online at the Roadway Inn Fresno, in Fresno, CA using Priceline services, and unfortunately for me I was unaware prior to my stay that you need to give a 24 hour notice if you will not be staying at the hotel for fear of your safety. Stupid me, I should have known 24 hours in advance that there would be hookers at the corner gas sation looking for a their next john. This place was three hours away from my home. I had never stayed there, but I was supposed to know 24 hours in advance of the ghetto like environment. When I arrived I immediately refused to check in and pleaded with the Indian hotel manager that I could not stay there. He really didn't care. As he climbed on a later to twist a light bulb in so he could see he stated that it was a direct booking with him so he could not refund me. I missed the 24 hour deadline. We exchanged many words as I was trying frantically to figure out what I was going to do. He and his wife basically ganged up on me and while they spoke to each other in their native dialect then shouting at me similtaneously. The office wreaked of a very strong odor. The parking lot had no cars. The outside was not well lit. I took my kids and drove around this unfriendly palce to find a hotel safe enough to sllep for the night. The next day I began calling the agency that booked my room with my complaint. After 30 minutes or so, and after being placed on hold several times for approximately 20 minutes of that time I was told that someone would contact me within 24 hours. Alright, fair enough. I could deal with that and proceeded to not let this ruin my trip. After several days of waiting for a return call I called back, this time I was only passed around 3 or 4 times. Each representative said the same thing(obviously reading a script from the computer in front of them), that I needed to cancel 24 hours in advance. I have contacted all the parties sveral times including coporate office "choice Hotels", pricline, roadway inn fresno, and the official roadway inn website who have been passed around like a bad dollar bill in a bank. I'll take my responsibillity for my share in this-charge me a cancellation fee, of charge me for the first nights stay if it makes you feel better. Why does this all fall back on me the consumer. How can we call this legitimate business. Why does everone keep passing the buck. It's not like were talking thousands of dollars($110.02), or that I purposly wronged them. If it were me, my morals would not allow me to intentionaly rip off another person. I do know one thing. KARMA!
