Chrysler Financial Complaint - Crossing the line - Auto Lender

Review by capps37 on 2009-10-25
KENTUCKY -- My mother has an auto loan with chrystler financial and she feels like she is being harassed. She is occasionally late with her payment but never more than 30 days. On 1 specific occasion she had made a payment through her bank online and she told chrystler that it can take up to 3 days to post but they continued to call her multiple times on her home phone and her cell phone, they were demanding immediate payment and were very rude.

Are they crossing a line and if so is there anything she can do?

If you owe them money, they'll call you until they get it. It's better to not wait 'til the last minute to make a payment.
The only things she can do: don't answer the phone and pay on time.

You said yourself she is consistently 30 days late. Why not just pay on time and the calls will stop. Either that, or they can come take the car. Which would she prefer?

As for telling them that the bill was paid online and it takes 3 days to post. I was a debt collector, and people would tell you that all the time, then their would be no payment 3 days, or a week later.

As been said, there is only one way to stop collection calls resulting from missing a due date. If she can't make it on time, it's one of those things she will have to accept. She can avoid picking up the phone if she is only a few days late, but if there is a situation where it goes beyond 30, she will definitely want to open correspondence with them. You never know when a lender will pull the repo trigger, especially on an account with historic late payments.
