Expedia.com Complaint - Expedia Travel Insurance (Berkley) Does NOT Cover Military Order Changes
I am an officer in the military. I made flight reservations through Expedia.com two months out from the flight date, and I also purchase their travel insurance for $32. I thought I would be covered if I needed to change my itinerary.
A month out from flying, I received military orders that forced me to shorten my vacation and change my flight itinerary. I called Expedia and had my itinerary changed. However, Expedia referred me to the Berkley insurance company to get a refund for the switching fee of $150.00, thus wiping their hands clean of me.
I called Berkley and the customer service agent told me their policy does NOT cover military who have orders changing that would change their flight itinerary. I was shocked that a reputable company like Expedia would support an insurance company that did NOT support the military. Considering how much the military and their families actually fly, I wanted to make sure that NO MILITARY MEMBERS SHOULD PURCHASE TRAVEL INSURANCE FROM EXPEDIA IF THEY EXPECT TO HAVE ORDERS CHANGING THEIR ITINERARY, BECAUSE THEY WILL NOT BE REFUNDED.
