Idearc Media Complaint - Pay by the Click? Are you nuts??

Complaint
Review by Won't give in on 2009-10-28
I was being charged $15/month by Idearc Media for an internet yellow page listing for several years. The charges were billed to me on my American Express Card. After Idearc began charging for their services by the click, I contacted them and cancelled my account and was told that their billing is three months behind and even though I am cancelling I will see charges for three months. The charges were going to my American Express Card and American Express credited my account after an investigation of the charges. Idearc started billing me directly. I have had several correspondences with Idearc and their collection agency. I have told them if they can send me a copy of a signed contract I will pay their bill, but they have not, they have reported me to the credit bureaus. They have also told me that I was informed by e-mail and on other occasions that they have a recording of my agreement, they have produced nothing. When you call them they transfer you back and fourth from the billing department to the contract department. I have assured them that I would never agree to pay by the click because I have no control over the number of clicks. Their collection people call me every single day. They have also denied telling me almost every single thing that they have said over the phone. I am now cancelling all of my Verizon Services - maybe their parent company can get their attention. My Verizon Services amount to about five times per year more the Idearc bill and I found out that the other cell phone companies will credit you for your cancellation fees that Verizon charges.

I am going to cut my advertising with supermedia as soon as possible. Their Representative last year changed my ads wording after I expressly informed her that I wanted no changes. The way it is now is ambiguous and not to the point. She also rarely called me when she said she would, I would wait for days and then find it very difficult to contact her myself. I had ads on the internet that had wrong phone numbers and wrong wording in the ad. It took me a month to get it straightend out by myself, no help from my represenative. When I pay for a service ( very expensive, compared to other phone books) I expect service.
