General Motors Complaint - Customer Service?????
I had a problem with a 2009 Chevy Aveo with 13,000+ miles on it. I live about 40 miles from the dealership where I bought the car. I tried two dealerships in my city (Nashville, TN) and had poor service from both. When I called GM's customer service department, I got only "scripted" replies, no help, and was told that I could not be given phone numbers to people higher up to complain to. My problem was finally sent to a person who supposedly was able to help. She did nothing but call me back saying she was checking with someone above her. I was continully told by the regular customer service reps I could not speak with anyone in the complaint department besides her without going through her first and that people in the complaint section were not in the same building as the regular reps. My request for a rental car was constantly bounced back and forth between one Nashville dealership and GM with neither giving me any resolution. I was told my car was safe and able to be driven without damage (to parts that were not under warranty) despite the fact that it was at times surging, missing, losing power, and had both the Check Engine and Hold lights on and sometimes vibrated until my teeth literally rattled. Even if it could safely be driven, which I was never entirely convinced of, I felt that as a customer with an almost new vehicle, I should not have to drive it as poorly as it was running for the two weeks I was first told it would take to get the part. I did at last get wonderful, compassionate service at Alexander Chevrolet in Dickson, TN (where I bought the car) and am listing that name because if I keep this car (which I am considering not doing, not because of the repair, but solely because of the shoddy way I was treated) they will be the only reason. Kudos to Alexander Chevrolet and their employees.
