Comcast Corporation Complaint - Boxes required for 'digital' for ALL cable customers and HIGHER costs
For a year, it was announced only those consumers using antennas would need the 'dTV-converter box' and cable customers had to "do nothing". Now in October 2009, as Comcast tries to "sell" digital, ALL cable customers are FORCED to add equipment ('digital-converter box' 6"x12" or adapter 4"x4") onto their televisions unless they have the digital chip. These units all require them to be attached to an electric outlet (costing consumers higher electricity bills). What is 'green' about that? Now Comcast approx 40 million customers (who were connected with only a cable) will be forced to use more electricity. The quality of the units may be questionable since the country where manufactured has exported several seriously defective items. THIS IS VERY FRIGHTENING. Comcast's service packages for want is going on is very confusing and NO customer service representative is able to tell you the costs beyond the
'promotion' period. New customers may get 80 channels (not counting HD or music) while long time customers will be limited to 40 (not counting HD or music). The quality of HD TVs are another matter. Comcast's position is that they can change the # of channels and the makeup of the channels whenever they want regardless of what consumers pay for. Their plans (not clearly expressed to their customers) is to have only 7 or so channels in the 'analog' range of 0 - 99. I am confused since we all were switched to digital in June 2009. Those 7 stations are the only thing that will be available if you do not go "digital" with the 'digital-converter box'. THIS is what congress has allowed to happen! Step back to 1950's with 7 channels.
But as a CABLE consumer, I want to know exactly what I am receiving for the money that I am paying. If I pay for a package with certain channels, then that is how it should stay without the "small print" indicating it will change at the discretion of Comcast. It is a SHAME how consumers are treated.
