Party City Compliment - Good service, for the most part
DAVIE, FLORIDA -- With the exception of one employee, the staff at my local Party City (approximately 15 total staff members) were very courteous and helpful this evening as I went to get my Halloween costume. The place was VERY busy (to the point where police were on-guard out front) and they handled it quite well. The staff commuicated between themselves via headsets to fulfill customer requests quickly and accurately. There was always an employee in sight to ask a question if needed. The cashier asked if I found everything I needed, and after telling her that I couldn't find any vampire vangs, she pulled some out of the counter behind her that she was planning to put back.
The only negative part of the experience was the employee working the costume pickup area. It was quite evident he was annoyed at the high volume of customers. At one point he stood atop a ladder and announced boldly to the crowd that "if there's a blank strip of white tape covering a particular size on the costume display wall, it means they are out of that size..so stop asking him." He also couldn't believe I had the gall to ask him why certain costumes on the wall didn't have numbers on them (they use the numbers to determine what costume it is when they go to retrieve it from the back). He sternly replied that they were costumes created just from accessories alone, and not from anything they sold prepackaged.
All-in-all, would I go back? Eh..why not.
