Tea Francais/Seattle Coffee Company Complaint - Stay Away from Seattle Coffee and Tea Francais
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS -- This is the most dishonest company I have ever dealt with. I accepted a "free" trial offer for a $2.00 shipping and handling charge. My sample arrived along with 2 other boxes of tea. I also discovered I had been billed over $160 on my credit card. I called customer service and they refunded $120 after 5 calls. I was using a debit card and I emptied my account and sure enough they attempted to recharge my card an additional $40.00 the day after I emptied the account. About a week after my 3 box sample shipment arrived, I received a "regular" shipment and was charged another $40.00 because I had let my guard down about keeping the account empty. I mailed this package back as directed. To make a long story a little shorter it took them over a month to acknowledge receipt of the returned tea and then they told me they were on a 4-6 week refund cycle. When my money still had not come after 6 weeks, I began calling them again. They kept promising I would receive a credit to my account in 3-5 days but, of course, it never came. I must have phoned them over 30 times all together - each time a manager (that I demanded to speak to) swore they were processing my refund while we were on the phone. After each promise, the credit never appeared on my card. It was only after I contacted the Chicago Better Business Bureau that I was able to get my money back -- in 3 days no less! Incidentally, the CBB gives this company a D+ rating. I am baffled by the "+". I am convinced after my experience and that of another friend that this company's strategy is to continually lie to you about getting your money back in hopes you will eventually give up. I have never dealt with a company even remotely as dishonest as Tea Francais/Seattle Coffee Company/Peele, Inc (the parent corporation.) Please save yourselves. Stay away from this company. Remember the old adage - if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
