Shanghai Airlines Complaint - Shanghai Airlines - unreliable and disrespectful

Review by jheise on 2009-11-01
212 JIANGNING ROAD SHANGHAI -- A flight from Beijing to Shanghai was delayed for about 4 hours because the aircraft had some safety and technical problems. The normal procedure is to be booked on any of the various other flights that go every hour. However, Shanghai Airlines refused to do so and gave no information during the waiting time when the airplane will take off. The customer service was disrespectful. At first, they denied the fact that plane was delayed. Replies took a very long time. Compensation was not offered, because boarding began 7 minutes before the compensation threshold.

Hourly flights are called 'shuttles' and they are a logistics nightmare - only US Airways continues to run them in the US (BOS-LGA-DCA)
Shanghai uses wide bodies that are VERY full - they require 'wing tip' scheduled flights (two flts departing at the same time to same destination).
It would be impossible to accommodate passengers on cascading flights so sadly you are made to wait till your aircraft is put into service.

If there is no room on a different flight they CAN'T rebook you. Sadly, delays happen.

We were 6 hours late on our return flight from Mexico. We dealt with it.
