SATA Computer Ltd Complaint - Bad Customer Service to a Repeat Customer

EDMONTON, ALBERTA -- I went in October 21, 2009 to bring in my dead pc. The motherboard went (would only run for 3 seconds and shut off). I have had problems with this motherboard before (was replaced at 6 weeks old, this one is only 11 months old). I brought it in and let them know the issue, let them know I thought it was the motherboard. The manager agreed with me.

After testing it they let me know it was the power supply and that they ended up "resetting" the motherboards settings so it worked again. When I went to pick up the PC they actually REPLACED the power supply without my consent. Being a long time customer of this store and the sister store "B COMM" I trusted their diagnostics and paid for the new power supply (75) and labour (80).

Less then two weeks later the same thing happened, therefore it was not the power supply. I took my PC back in and wanted a refund for the new, unnecessary power supply. I got the refund (-75) but not for the labour.

I am writing this review to complain that they charged me $80 for "diagnostics and installation" when they DIDN'T diagnose the problem and they installed an UNNECESSARY component.

The owner refused to refund this amount, citing that they could "look at it some more" for me. I have known the whole time that it was the motherboard. All I wanted was a confirmation of what I said and a new motherboard installed - and I would have been happy and on my way. I would have gladly paid for that labour IF THE PROBLEM WAS SOLVED.

In the end I just wanted a partial refund for the labour/installation. Not even the full $80. Just refund me for the installation you charged on an unnecessary part!!!

All in all, I would say that this is horrible customer service for a "Ma and Pa" shop that relies on word of mouth. Well here is my word of mouth - DO NOT USE SATA COMPUTER.
